About

Jane’s eclectic inspirations can come from anywhere, at any time. From the shape and motion of the sea to the angles of pitched roofs in a coastal fishing village, to specimens from the fossil record to Victorian clockwork mechanisms, she is both inspired and affected by diverse subjects. Jane’s designs often pick up on the minutest of details. Her busy brain explores how she can turn these inspirational elements into beautiful jewellery.

Jane creates jewellery that is well made, unique and imaginative, with great care and attention to detail. Jane Frost Jewellery is born out of curiosity, wonder and above all, passion. Jewellery pieces that are more than just ornaments, they are treasures that are made to be cherished.

Jane Frost Jewellery is handcrafted using traditional techniques. A large proportion of Jane’s work is made using the lost wax technique, where a master is meticulously carved in wax utilising strong magnification! It’s a very absorbing activity that Jane finds she can lose hours whilst sculpting forms that are tiny and intricate. The wax master is then sent to a small company in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and cast in recycled precious metals. (Not forgetting that metals are infinitely recyclable). The castings are then lovingly hand finished by Jane.

Other processes utilised are piercing, filing, sanding, soldering, hammering, doming, drilling and oxidation. Any gemstones used are sourced from reputable suppliers in the UK.

Jane Frost Jewellery is based in a cosy home studio in North Nottinghamshire, where Jane beavers away in her one-woman workshop fuelled by coffee. Each distinctive piece is conceived, handmade and finished, packaged and dispatched by Jane, along with trusted partners for casting, assaying and postage.

Jane studied a foundation in art and design at Hereford College of Art and perfected her jewellery skills through specialist study. After a career break, she returned to her first love and launched Jane Frost Jewellery.

When Jane isn’t running a jewellery business, she can be found on the school run, feeding guinea pigs or looking for ladybirds.
